Lukáš Vondráček / piano

After studying at the Academy of Music in Katowice and the Konservatorium Wien, Lukáš Vondráček enrolled at the New England Conservatory in Boston, from which he graduated with distinction in 2012. He gave his first public performance at the tender age of four. In 2002, aged 15, he debuted with the Czech Philharmonic, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy. Subsequently, in 2003, he toured the USA. In 2004, Lukáš Vondráček made his first solo album (Octavia Records). Highly acclaimed is his recording featuring Johannes Brahms works (ORF). In 2016, he won the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. Lukáš Vondráček has also garnered other coveted accolades, including first prizes at the prestigious international competitions in Hilton Head, South Carolina, in San Marino and Pretoria, as well as the prize of the jury at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, Texas.

Following his lauded performances with symphony orchestras in Chicago, Pittsburgh and London, in the 2021/22 season Lukáš made his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, and returned to orchestras in Baltimore, Chicago, Warsaw and Malmö. The most recent highlights include recitals at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, in Mumbai and Singapore, at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, at the Flagey cultural centre in Brussels, at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, at Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Casa da Música in Porto, the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Celebrity Series of Boston, and elsewhere.

Lukáš Vondráček has worked with conductors of such renown as Paavo Järvi, Gianandrea Noseda, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Marin Alsop, Christoph Eschenbach, Pietari Inkinen, Vasily Petrenko, Jakub Hrůša, Xian Zhang, Krzysztof Urbański, Stéphane Denève and Alexander Lazarev. He has performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orquestra Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Wiener Symphoniker, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, and the Washington and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras. He has made tours with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Oslo-Philharmonien and Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest.
