Catalogue number: SU 4373-2

Alinde Quintet, winner of the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich in 2024 and laureate of the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Copenhagen in 2023, has established itself as a prominent ensemble on the European chamber music scene. The quintet, composed of players from leading domestic and foreign orchestras (Czech Philharmonic, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, BBC Philharmonic, etc.), now presents its debut album entitled Inscape, which will be released by Supraphon on 21 November 2025 on CD and in digital formats.

The album presents four distinctive composers – Pavel Haas, Dmitri Shostakovich, Jan Novák, and Pēteris Vasks – whose works reflect deep personal and historical imprints. War, totalitarianism, inner freedom, and joie de vivre – all of this is reflected in the musical landscape that the Alinde Quintet interprets with sensitivity and precision.

“Each composition we selected for our debut album reflects the inner world of its author,” say the members of the ensemble. “Just as each work is unique, so too are the life stories of Haas, Shostakovich, Novák, and Vask. This diversity has inspired us to embark on our own search: we perform as a whole – a chamber ensemble that together creates a new musical landscape – yet each of us inhabits our own inner landscape."

The album title Inscape is therefore not just a poetic designation, but a key to understanding the dramaturgy and interpretative approach. "This is how we perceive this album: as a glimpse into our inner selves and an imprint of it, which we hope will also enrich the listeners. It is a warm invitation to look into their inner world – and at the same time encounter the inner landscapes that inspired this music," said oboist Barbora Trnčíková.

The dramaturgy of the album offers a strong contrast between the dark compositions of Haas, Shostakovich, and Vask and the playful Concertino by Jan Novák. "All of the aforementioned composers held very strong and unyielding personal and political views in their time – this can also be felt in their music, which is exceptionally communicative and powerful," adds the ensemble.

The album Inscape is thus not only a musical statement, but also a call to listen more deeply – to ourselves and to the world around us.
