Album detail
Catalogue number: SU 4032-2

On Saturday 8th May there was the Smetana's cycle of symphonic poems Má vlast played and reviewed on BBC Radio 3 Record Review. The Supraphon live recording by Prague Philharmonia and Jakub Hrůša from the opening concert of the Prague Spring Festival (2010) and the historical recording by Czech Philharmonic and Václav Talich (1939) have been chosen as the recommended recordings.

Anna Picard, a regular contributor to BBC Radio 3, chose her favourite recording from a number of recordings by renowned orchestras such as Czech Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Bamberger Symphoniker, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchester, Boston Symphony Orchestra or Prague Philharmonia and conductors such as Václav Talich, Karel Ančerl, Václav Neumann, Rafael Kubelík, Jiří Bělohlávek, Sir Charles Mackerras and Jakub Hrůša.

Record Review is on BBC Radio 3 (90–93 FM and Digital Radio) every Saturday 09:00–11:45 and is (usually) presented by Andrew McGregor. As well as the Building a Library feature (which looks at recordings of a specific work), the programme reviews a wide range of new releases with guest reviewers.
