The album of Bohuslav Martinů's Songs recorded by Martina Janková, Tomáš Král and Ivo Kahánek is the Critic's Choice in Opera News (November issue).

„Soprano Martina Janková, a member of the Zurich Opera's roster for two decades and a frequent presence at the Salzburg Festival, frequently sings Mozart roles. Her lyric instrument retains its fresh, appealing quality, and she can inflect words and musical phrases with keen, expressive definition. Tomaš Král, a baryton martin who can both lighten and add color to his sound, has appeared widely as a concert artist but has also sung Baroque opera in small but high quality European houses. His singing here, like that of Janková, shows flexibility and a pleasingly wide dynamic palette. Neither is a stranger to the recording studio. This CD serves as a good introduction to their artistry, as well as to Martinů's com­pelling miniatures, beautifully accompanied by deft pianist Ivo Kahánek.“
