Conductor Břetislav Bakala (1897 - 1958), a dedicated pupil of Leoš Janáček, reserved a significant part of his career for an exceptionally systematic presentation of his great master's works. Intheir own time Bakala's impeccable and in a sense authentic Janáčkian creations attracted extraordinary attention. Many of them were recorded and thus have been preserved for future generations oflisteners. Supraphon is now returning, in digitalized versions, to Bakala's accounts of Janáček's Sinfonietta and Glagolitic Mass. Although the original recordings were made five decades ago, timehas detracted nothing from their quality. They serve as a fascinating testimony to a key stage in the tradition of Janáčkian interpretation. Here is a title not to be missed by any Janáčekaficionado. On its tracks, Břetislav Bakala presents an original interpretation of two masterpieces by the genius of 20th-century music.

Slogan: Břetislav Bakala conducts Janáček: a rare document ofJanáčkian interpretation.
