Just a few days after the awards ceremony in London, the Pavel Haas Quartet will be setting out on another tour of Europe. Following concerts in the Netherlands and Belgium, the ensemble will debut at the Berliner Philharmonie Chamber Music Hall, as well as return to other major venues in Germany, including Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle and Munich’s Herkulessaal. In May, the Pavel Haas Quartet are scheduled to perform in Bilbao in the Basque Country in Spain and give two recitals in the UK, appearing at the hypermodern Sage Gateshead hall in Newcastle and, again, at the renowned Wigmore Hall, with a programme presenting works by Bohuslav Martinů, Antonín Dvořák and Robert Schumann. In June, the Pavel Haas Quartet will play before audiences in Italy and Ireland, and at the beginning of July will give two concerts at the East Neuk Festival in Scotland.

Founded in 2002, the Pavel Haas Quartet proudly bear the name of the distinguished Czech composer Pavel Haas (1899–1944). Since 2004, they have received numerous prestigious accolades, including first prizes at the Prague Spring International Music Competition and the Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition, Newcomer of the Year from BBC Music Magazine, the MIDEM Classical Award and five Gramophone Awards, the “Oscars of classical music”.

At the present time, the Pavel Haas Quartet’s line-up is Veronika Jarůšková (violin), Marek Zwiebel (violin), Radim Sedmidubský (viola) and Peter Jarůšek (cello). Next year, the ensemble will be recording their seventh Supraphon studio album.
